10 Beauty Ingredients We Are Thankful For!!!

Like many of you, I spend November thinking about all for which I am thankful. Topping the list are my family, friends, good health and the fact that I have a job that I love. Which got me thinking about the beauty industry, and all of the super-healing, nourishing and downright luxurious ingredients that we have to be thankful for. Here, I’m sharing my list of beauty ingredients that deserve our thanks this season.
Coconut oil
There are about a thousand uses for this wonder ingredient, but used straight on the skin makes an amazing moisturizer for winter dryness, not to mention transports you immediately to a warmer (smelling) place.

Olive oil
This common cooking ingredient doubles as a frizz-control product during the dry winter weather. Simply put a dab on your hands, rub together and apply. Just be careful: Going overboard or you’ll risk looking greasy.

Grapeseed oil
Too much partying around the holidays? Gently place grape seed oil under the delicate skin beneath your eyes twice daily to eliminate unpleasant dark circles. It’s full of antioxidants and linoleic acid.

Rosehip seed oil
Extremely high in essential fatty acids, rich in vitamins and antioxidants, especially Vitamin C, Vitamin A (retinol) and linoleic acid, it can help with sun damage, hyper-pigmentation from an unexpected burn from the winter sun, eczema and psoriasis and lines/wrinkles. Plus it makes a great makeup remover!

Lavender Oil
This ultra-relaxing oil has serious aromatherapeutic properties. If you have trouble sleeping, mix a little with some water and spray on your pillow cases, or create the ultimate pampering soak by adding some to a warm bath.

Thieves oil blend
This mixture is made of clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus and rosemary. Make your own or buy from Young Living Essential Oils. This combination is great for winter flu season as it’s highly antibacterial, antiviral and anti-infectious — what’s not to love?

Honey
Feeling dehydrated? Honey is a natural humectant that helps your skin retain water. Mix into a DIY face mask or look for ingredients like moisturizer for an added power punch.

Lemons, Grapefruits and Oranges
These three faves are all Mediterranean winter fruits. Enjoy the in-season bounty with a tonic or flavored water. Staying hydrated will help your skin from the inside out.

Peppermint oil
Feeling a little sluggish? Put a dab between your eyes, as this oil promotes clarity, feelings of alertness and helps if you have an afternoon headache.

Avocado Oil
Great for cuticle treatment and keeping your fingers/nails looking sharp for all the holiday parties, simply rub onto your hands in the midst of a DIY manicure. Then slather on your favorite hue — might we suggest a festive red?

Take some time to give thanks this season, for these ingredients and all of the other blessings in your life. Talk about true beauty.
